Truckee River Campgrounds

Campgrounds on the Truckee River south of the town of Truckee have the advantage of being only a few miles from Donner Lake, Lake Tahoe, Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley), Boca and Prosser Reservoirs, and a host of other recreation opportunities. All of the campsites may be reserved.

Donner Memorial State Park Campground

Located on the southeast shore of Donner Lake. The campgrounds are usually open from late May to early or mid-September. For information, call (530) 582-7892. Goose Meadow Campground

Located along the Truckee River on Highway 89 four miles south of Truckee. The campground is set among pines. It is at 6,000 feet and usually open from mid-May through the end of September.

  • 21 campsites for tents and RVs up to 50', vault toilets, piped water
  • Picnic tables, grills, fire rings
  • Fishing, tubing in the river, close to Lake Tahoe

Granite Flat Campground

Located on Highway 89 and the Truckee River 2 miles south of Truckee. The campground is at 5,900 feet and is usually open from mid-May to mid-October. Jeffrey pines and lodgepole pines cover the area.

Silver Creek Campground

Located on the Truckee River 7 miles south of Truckee on Highway 89 at an elevation of 6,100 feet. The area is covered with lodgepole pine and fir. Lake Tahoe is 7 miles to the south. Squaw Valley is 2 miles from the campground. Silver Creek Campground is usually open from mid-May to the end of September.
